Welcome to Perks Cards ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing a secure experience when you use our products.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use:

  • The Perks Cards browser extension
  • The Perks Cards Android app
  • Our website and authenticated web app at perks.cards

By using any of these services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and profile information

When you create a Perks account (via the website, extension, or Android app), we collect:

  • Name and email address
  • Phone number (required at signup)
  • Password (stored in hashed form; we never store plaintext passwords)
  • Optional Google OAuth profile information if you sign in with Google
  • Reward preferences (for example Amazon Prime or Tata NeuPass status)

2.2 Wallet and card information

  • Bank name, card type, and card name for cards you add to your wallet
  • Optional last four digits of a card for identification
  • Card priority settings
  • We do NOT collect full card numbers, CVV codes, expiration dates, or PINs

2.3 Transaction and checkout information

  • Merchant name, purchase amount, and category when you receive a recommendation or record a transaction
  • Transaction context such as platform (web extension, Android app), redemption channel, and booking platform where applicable
  • Checkout detection events (for example when a payment screen is recognized)

2.4 Premium features (subscribers only)

  • Financial goals, expense catalog entries, and spending-plan data
  • Agent chat messages and session metadata used to answer strategy questions
  • Reward inventory and simulation inputs you provide

2.5 Automatically collected information

  • Device or installation identifier (a randomly generated UUID for extension or Android installs, linked to your account when signed in)
  • App or extension version, platform, and basic device or browser information used to improve reliability
  • Usage and analytics events described in Section 6

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing personalized credit card recommendations based on transaction details and reward rules
  • Calculating and tracking reward accumulation and milestone progress
  • Operating checkout detection on supported merchants (browser extension and Android app)
  • Analyzing offers on supported e-commerce platforms to maximize savings
  • Identifying merchant categories for accurate reward calculation
  • Operating premium features such as goals, spending plans, and agent chat
  • Improving our products, diagnosing technical issues, and measuring feature usage

4. Information Storage and Security

Your information is stored as follows:

  • Local device storage: extension data in Chrome storage; Android tokens in encrypted app storage; some preferences cached on device
  • Server storage: account profile, wallet cards, transactions, preferences, premium data, and recommendation inputs synchronized over HTTPS
  • Checkout session totals on Android may be held in memory on your device for a short period (about 10 minutes) to connect cart and payment steps

We protect data in transit with HTTPS and authenticate API access with JWTs. Access to production user data is limited to team members who need it to operate the service.

5. Data Processing and AI Services

To provide accurate recommendations, merchant categorization, and premium agent chat, we use third-party AI providers including Perplexity and Anthropic Claude.

  • We send only the data needed for each task (for example merchant names or your chat message)
  • We cache categorization results where possible to reduce repeat API calls
  • We do not send full payment credentials or complete card numbers to AI providers
  • Responses are processed and stored according to our data retention practices

6. Analytics

We use product analytics to understand feature usage and improve checkout detection. Events are sent from our extension and Android app to our backend, which forwards them to Amplitude (a third-party analytics provider).

  • Typical events include checkout detected, recommendation shown, recommendation dismissed, and recommendation used
  • Event properties may include merchant slug, order amount, and anonymized device or user identifiers
  • The browser extension includes a setting to disable analytics tracking
  • Our marketing website uses Google Analytics with a cookie consent banner; that consent is separate from in-product analytics

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us operate our products (hosting, analytics, AI categorization)
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and property
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and update: edit cards and preferences in the extension, Android app, or web settings
  • Checkout controls: disable checkout detection in Perks Settings or turn off Accessibility / overlay permissions on Android
  • Analytics: toggle analytics off in the extension settings
  • Deletion: remove cards in the app; uninstall the extension or Android app to clear local data; request full account deletion at https://perks.cards/delete-account
  • Account: sign out at any time; use the delete-account page or contact us to close your account

9. Data Retention

We retain account and transaction data while your account is active and for a limited period afterward unless you request deletion. Analytics events are retained according to our analytics provider's configuration. Local checkout session data on Android expires automatically after about 10 minutes.

10. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

11. Third-Party Services and Merchants

Perks integrates with third-party shopping apps and websites. Their privacy policies govern how those merchants handle your data. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

12. Browser Extension Integration

The extension runs on supported checkout pages (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Ajio, Nykaa, and BigBasket on amazon.in, flipkart.com, and related domains). It:

  • Reads limited checkout page content to detect merchant, amount, and category
  • Shows a Perks recommendation panel during checkout
  • Does not auto-fill payment fields, submit orders, or capture login credentials or payment details entered on merchant sites

13. Android Checkout Assistant

When you enable the checkout assistant, Perks uses the Android Accessibility Service and display-over-other-apps permission solely to detect checkout on supported shopping apps and show card recommendations.

  • Supported apps: Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Ajio, Nykaa, and BigBasket
  • Data read on device: merchant context and order total from accessibility text on checkout screens
  • Not collected: passwords, OTPs, full card numbers, or payment credentials
  • A Perks overlay may appear at the payment step; you can dismiss it or disable detection in Settings or via the system Accessibility button
  • Checkout context is sent to our servers over HTTPS to fetch recommendations; transactions are recorded only when you tap Use this card
  • You must explicitly enable Accessibility for Perks in system settings; we cannot enable it automatically

14. International Processing

We operate from India. Some service providers (for example analytics and AI vendors) may process data in other countries. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data processed.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on perks.cards/privacy with an updated "Last Updated" date. Please review this page periodically.
